Private Lessons

Private lessons include one on one time with the instructor. These lessons are available to anyone! From brand new swimmers to experienced swimmers looking to fine-tune their strokes.

Class Levels

Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills

Objective: help students feel comfortable in the water & enjoy the water safely
• Develop elementary aquatic skills
• Develop good attitudes & safe practices around the water
• Explore movement in the water
• Ensuring the student that the water is fun & safe

Level 2

Fundamental Aquatic Skills

Must feel comfortable in the water
Objective: give students success with fundamental skills
• Learn to float without support & to recover to a standing position
• Marks the beginning of true locomotion skills
• Explore simultaneous & alternating arm & leg actions on the front & back to lay the foundation for future strokes

Level 3

Stroke Development

Must be able to float without support & have basic locomotion skills (know basics of how to use arms & legs used for front & back strokes)
Objective: build on to the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice
• Learn how to coordinate arms & legs for the front/back crawl as well as elementary backstroke, sidestroke, & breaststroke
• Introduce elements of the butterfly
• Learn fundamentals of treading water
• Learn rules for head-first entries
• Begin to learn to enter the water headfirst from the side of the pool

Level 3

Level 4

Stroke Improvement

Must have an idea of movement for all strokes, especially front & back crawl
Objective: develop confidence in the strokes learned thus far & to improve other aquatic skills
• Improve their skills & increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front/back crawl) for greater distances
• Continue to build on the butterfly, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, & breaststroke
• Learn basics of wall turning

Level 5

Stroke Refinement

Must have endurance to swim across pool & feel confident in basic strokes
Objective: coordination & refinement of strokes
• Refine their performance of all the strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, & breaststroke)
• Increase their distances
• Flip turns on front & back are introduced

Level 6

Swimming & Skill Proficiency

Must be able to swim all strokes & swim at least 500 meters nonstop (10 laps there & back across the pool)
Objective: refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power, & smoothness over greater distances
• Introduction of other aquatic activities
• Help in preparation for things such as competitive swimming or diving
• Customized to meet the objective of the participant
• Usually taught to help promote competition or to help students achieve a higher level of fitness
• Can be repeated to focus on different goals each time (such as prerequisites for life-guarding, swim in-
structor, or merit badges)

Level 7

Diving Adventure

Must have successfully completed level 4— Please bring a tee shirt to each class.
Objective: introduction to diving
• forward and back dives
• forward and back flips
